HOW LARGE IS EACH LEARNING COHORT?
The maximum size is fifteen students.

CAN MY CHILD SWITCH COHORTS DURING THE YEAR?
Students will be able to continue with an existing cohort or select a new option each semester (subject to availability of slots).

IS EXPAT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL COMPLETELY VIRTUAL?
For now, we’re 100% virtual.

WHAT TECHNOLOGY DOES MY CHILD NEED?
Nothing more than a reliable internet connection, and a computer or other device with camera and microphone. For essay writing it is best to have a conventional keyboard.

HOW WILL YOU SELECT CANDIDATES FOR EXPAT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL?
Expat International School is for students who want to own their own education!
We are looking for students with a passion, either for learning, creating, building a business, creating a game, or some other form of excellence. They don’t need to know exactly what they want, but they need to love learning or doing in some form.

HOW WILL YOU REPORT ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE?
You will receive written feedback quarterly on your student’s performance in Expat International School. Writing, math, science, and project-based units. In addition to rich narrative feedback, your child will be evaluated against typical grade-level skill levels. Students who elect to take practice SAT exams three times per year will also have those scores as a measure of academic progress.

WHAT IS YOUR CALENDAR FOR 2021-2022?
In addition to recognizing federal U.S. holidays, our calendar consists of:
School starts: Aug. 30th, 2021.
Thanksgiving break: Nov. 22-26, 2020.
Winter holiday: Dec. 20, 2020 through Jan. 3, 2021.
End of school: May 27, 2022.Parents may take their students out for an optional spring break whenever they choose. For a more detailed calendar please contact us.

HOW DOES EXPAT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL PERSONALIZE LEARNING FOR MY CHILD?
Expat International School is focused on developing high level skills for all students with respect to reading, writing, thinking, listening, leadership, collaboration, project management, entrepreneurship and other key 21st century skills. Our diverse group activities feature personalized assignments and coaching.

WHAT ABOUT STEM LEARNING?
We offer group activities covering middle school math and science curricula. Personalized assignments and coaching are provided for students who are either more advanced or who need extra practice covering earlier mathematics.

HOW WILL STUDENTS LEARN SUBJECTS NOT LISTED?
Our students will be exposed to an extraordinary range of learning opportunities across many topics both through our core and enrichment programming. Pedagogically, our focus is on high-level skill development in reading, writing, mathematics, leadership, and collaboration skills along with broad exposure across other disciplines. Our Socratic and project-based learning will include historical context and scientific principles.

HOW WILL THE SCHOOL DEAL WITH INTERNATIONAL TIME DIFFERENCES
Currently our school runs on US Central Time, but as the school grows we will introduce classes that will fit standard European, and eventually, Asian time zones.

IS EXPAT INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL TAUGHT IN ENGLISH ONLY
Currently we are an English speaking school with foreign languages offered as special classes based on your childs interests. As the school progresses, we may offer the entire program in additional languages.

MY CHILD SPEAKS ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE, WILL THEY BE WELCOME IN THE SCHOOL
Yes, we have many students who speak English as a second language and we are equipped to help your child to rapidly advance their English language ability to an advanced level, while still being sensitive to their needs as they progress and grow.
